Embakasi East lawmaker Babu Owino is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday after he was arrested by flying squad officers on Friday outside Parliament Building.
MP Owino is said to have assaulted a security guard in Westlands, a charge for which he will be presented before the judge to take a plea.
According to a video doing rounds on the social media platforms, the MP and his bodyguards are seen getting physical with a security guard who refused to remove the barricade for the MP for having not paid the required parking fee.
NASA leadership led by Minority leader Moses Wetangula have termed the detention as unlawful and have demanded the lawmaker to be released with an immediate effect.
“It’s unfortunate that we are back to the draconian rule of law, Jubilee needs to stop misusing the police by detaining Owino unlawfully,” Wetangula said.
