Embakasi East MP Babu Owino’s supporters have demonstrated outside the Milimani Law courts, urging for his immediate release.
Owino was arrested on Sunday evening, after he allegedly insulted the president during a rally in Nairobi.
The youthful MP has spent two nights in the cells, after his bail request was dismissed on Tuesday.
He has been accused of referring to President Uhuru Kenyatta as 'mtoto wa mbwa', during the rally that was held in Kawangware on Sunday.
His supporters, who came for the hearing of his case, waved placard calling for ‘justice for Babu Owino’ caused a stir outside the court premises.
His utterances led to an angry response from President Kenyatta’s supporters, who barricaded the Thika Super Highway on Sunday calling for the arrest of the MP.
He has since denied the charges, which included abusing the president and inciting the public to violence.
The supporters continued to push for the arrest of IEBC Chair Ezra Chiloba, whom has been the subject of NASA leaders’ onslaught to change officials at the electoral body as the country heads to the polls once again.
If found guilty of incitement, Babu will serve a sentence of about six years, which means he will lose his seat.
