Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has issued a one-week ultimatum to a contractor to complete a road project in the city constituency.
Babu said the road's completion is long overdue and wondered why the company working on the project is dilly-dallying with the job.
"Construction of the road at Utawala Ward from the shopping center- Fagilia-Shalom court all the way to Utawala Academy will resume this week," a furious Babu said on Monday after inspecting the project.
"Baobab General Contractors have become lazy and fickle after being awarded the tender. I am giving them one week to proceed with the construction or face the wrath of the people of Embakasi East. No mercy in service delivery."
He said completion of the project will enable constituents to transact business efficiently and effectively.
The contractor who could not be reached for comment, Babu said, only dug tunnels, compacted stones, and gravel at different sections of the road before suspending work.
He said he may be compelled to call for a peaceful demonstration to demand the company explains reasons for delayed completion of construction works.
The road serves diverse areas of the city that are critical in driving economic development in the city.
