Owino had given Education CS Fred Matiang'i a week to revoke his decision to give away the campus.

Speaking on Thursday, Owino threatened that the students will move to streets if the government did not go back on its decision to relocate the institution.

"We warn that they are not going to take this institution away from us. Any attempt to do so will have severe consequences. The demonstrations will be violent," warned Owino.

He added: "We shall not be intimidated by the government. If they want they can deploy all GSU officers to the institution. We are ready to defend our college."

Owino noted that the campus, established in 1965 through a partnership between the Kenyan and Swedish government, has well equipped laboratories that are essential for their studies.

"We have modern laboratories that will lead to the achievement of vision 2030," he said.

This comes after elapsing of the date given by Matiang’i to the University asking them to vacate the premises before December 1, 2016.

In his letter dated September 9, the CS said that the current UoN campus was being turned into a campus of Kenya Technical Training College that was relocating from its current place in Gigiri, urging the leadership to vacate before the said date.
