Outspoken Embakasi East Member of Parliament sent a message on Saturday to his political opponents after a dramatic ruling that upheld his August 8 win.
Addressing the press, the controversial legislator struck a conciliatory tone, saying that it was time for the constituency to move forward after a grueling legal battle.
He urged his opponents to join in the effort to improve the constituency and allow him to serve his term.
''To my opponents, I would like to urge them to wake up from the ground dust up and move forward. I invite them to come and help me serve the people of Embakasi East constituency. I know that there is a time of everything; a time to lead and a time to be led. This is a time for my opponents to be led. Let them respect the people in power now so that when their time comes, they can be respected back,'' Babu Owino said.
The ruling was a much-needed relief for the first-time legislator who was staring at the prospect of an annulment.
A lower court had annulled his victory, forcing him to move to a higher court for appeal.
Babu will be hoping that his opponent who filed a legal challenge will not seek to have the Court of Appeal's verdict reviewed.
