University of Nairobi students have threatened to hold demonstrations to push the university’s administration readmit students who were expelled after protests rocked the institution.
Students were protesting the re-election of Babu Owino as the Students Organisation of Nairobi University (Sonu) chairman claiming the poll was rigged.
The institution dismissed the claims and gave Babu Owino’s victory a clean bill of health.
The chair has however come out with calls for the university to bring back the students.
“No student should appear before the appeals disciplinary committee until further notice. The Vice chancellor cannot proceed to suspend comrades whereas the aim of an appeal is to review the previous decision. We will hold demonstrations on Tuesday nights and Friday nights should the vice chancellor refuse to dialogue.” Babu Owino said in a statement.
The University suspended 201 students in April this year following the chaos.
Among those suspended was Mike Jacobs who was Babu’s opponent in the elections.
