A section of Nairobi Members of County Assembly led by Makongeni MCA Peter Imwotok have challenged Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to support the Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi as the new Luhya Community spokesperson.
Speaking on Saturday during a press conference, the MCAs said Wetangula should respect the will of the people and back Mudavadi, noting that the unity of the Luhya Community is critical as the country heads into the next general elections.
"Every community has a kingpin and we cannot have two community spokespersons. So Wetang’ula should know that Mr Mudavadi is the only spokesperson we have in western region," Imwotok said.
"We as the Luhya community have decided to be united this time round and we will not allow anyone within or outside to divide us," he added.
They leaders also accused Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka of trying to divide the Luhya-vote by failing to support Mudavadi as the community spokesperson.
Mudavadi was crowned as the undisputed Luhya Leader last Saturday at Bukhungu Stadium by COTU Secretary General Francis A
