Speaking on Saturday during a press conference, the MCAs said Wetangula should respect the will of the people and back Mudavadi, noting that the unity of the Luhya Community is critical as the country heads into the next general elections.

"We as the Luhya community have decided to be united this time round and we will not allow anyone within or outside to divide us," he added.

They leaders also accused Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka of trying to divide the Luhya-vote by failing to support Mudavadi as the community spokesperson.
