The ODM leader is set to run for presidency in 2017 for the fourth time after three previous attempts that were marred with rigging claims.

But Ondigi in an exclusive interview on Sunday, insisted that Raila had achieved the statesman recognition and should back a more moderate candidature of Mudavadi-Kalonzo to remove Jubilee from power.

“I am not saying that he can’t win but I think trying the second experiment of Mudavadi-Kalonzo could work just like when he chose Kibaki in 2002. He has nothing to lose because he has achieved the stature of a 'pan-Africanist', meaning he is even above presidency,” he said.

“The experiment isn’t a bad one given its national outlook and I swear it will give the Jubilee administration sleepless nights than banking on a coalition (Cord) which has already been invaded by Jubilee,” added Ondigi.

He said the combination of the due will deliver massive votes from Western and Eastern with additional votes from Nyanza, Coast and other marginalised areas.

“At the moment, the Opposition doyen seems to be struggling due to Jubilee invasion in some of his strongholds. Some of his supporters may have been disillusioned that he may be rigged out again. However, the combination of the two is super and will deliver in key regions,” he said.
