A Kisii based Don has now challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to Deputise his current Deputy William Ruto to show his commitment in solidifying the 2013 marriage if he intends to be a two term President.
This comes amidst tension following remarks by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and nominated Senator Paul Njoroge that ruled out Central Kenya’s support for the DP in 2022 polls.
Prof Nyachieo Bogonko on Thursday during a telephone conversation maintained that Jubilee’s marriage is at risk and could only be saved if Kenyatta shelves his ambitions for the ambitious DP and then come back in 2022 for the final term.
“Politics is a trick game and I don’t see the Jubilee government surviving in 2017 unless Uhuru does the unthinkable. That is allowing Ruto to run for the presidency in 2017 and come back later for his final term in 2022,” he said.
“The recent utterances by senior individuals from Mt Kenya region will not be taken lightly by the Ruto I know. He will work round the clock to find the best way forward for him. More stormy moments will be witnessed before 2017 polls,” he added.
He also challenged the Jubilee team to come up with a concrete road map to sustain the marriage to combat any fallout before the elections.
“If the President cannot back Ruto, then there is a need to reconvene and come up with a strategic road map that can keep Ruto to his team with a concrete reward in 2022. Otherwise, things may not be well as we approach elections,” he said.
