Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has called on Coast region residents to back President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the August general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday when he issued over 3,000 titles to Kilifi residents on behalf of the Head of State, the former Mvita lawmaker accused past administrations of ignoring the Coastal people, noting that only Uhuru's had come to their aid.
“Today, the President has sent me here to issue title deeds. We are issuing more than 3,000 in fulfilling one of the Jubilee manifesto [promise] that every Kenyan must have the right to own land in the country,” he said.
“We had the Kenyatta government, the Moi government, Kibaki and the Kibaki-Raila governments. Didn’t they know the existence of land problems at the Coast? Why is it that it is only President Uhuru Kenyatta who is currently issuing title deeds? He is a caring President who fulfils what he promises," he added.Balala was accompanied by his Mining counterpart Dan Kazungu, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro and a host of other Jubilee Party politicians drawn from the region. They drummed up support for President Kenyatta and Jubilee Party. The region is perceived to be an Opposition stronghold.
