Boronyi SDA Church's Omoko Sabbath School Elder Elijah Matoke has regretted that bad eating and drinking habits alongside lifestyle foods had immensely contributed to contracting of chronic diseases, especially cancer-related ailments affecting majority of the people in the country.

Speaking at Nyaisero village, Giasaiga sub-location in Sameta sub-county during a church service conducted by elders from Boronyi SDA Church, Matoke reminded the Adventist Church faithful and the general public to be careful on their eating habits to avert contracting chronic diseases linked to foods.

“I know some of you here will not take this message kindly, but I am assuring you that if we continue with the bad eating and drinking habits, we are endangering our bodies' health and moving closer to the graves,” stated Matoke

He regretted that despite the SDA Church's position that its faithful should shun drinking tea leaves and anything with caffeine content, majority of them defied the teaching and continued consuming tea leaves, which he said contributed to high palpation of the heart due to pressure caused by caffeine in the human nervous system.

Matoke challenged members of the public, to reconsider their eating and drinking habits to keep doctors away when it comes to food-related and lifestyle diseases affecting majority of Kenyans, and consider going for routine check-ups even if they were not sick to allow for early detection of chronic diseases before they reach advanced stages.
