Kisii-Nyatieko road has been impassable since last night due to heavy rains that the area has been experiencing in the last one week.

Passengers who prefer the route as a short cut to and from Kisumu were stuck for the better day of yesterday evening and were forced to use the Nyamira route to reach Kisii town.

Residents have laid their blame solemnly on Kisii county Governor since he hails from the same area.

A local vernacular radio station took the better party of the day in the morning engaging the residents over the road where they continued blaming the county on not making the road.

“We are not sure when the usage of this road that helps many will be well and up to standard to assist in economic growth of our county bearing in mind that farm produce from this area add up market to Daraja Mbili open air market,” said Geoffrey Tinega who represents the youths from Kitutu Chache.

After the official launch of the Kisii town, county governor James Ongwae was on his way to see the progress at a bridge building that is ongoing near where Nyatieko where the road is impassable and he also had no option other than to turn back to Kisii for the road was bad.

Local leaders have called upon the county government to act fast and repair the road.
