Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has called for tolerance and unity among Nakuru county leaders.
Addressing the public at Ndundori ward on Saturday, the MP asked county leaders to embrace each other and accommodate each other’s views.
Ngunjiri said that they all represent the people and must work towards ensuring a positive image of the people.
“Nakuru leaders should know that they represent the image a d wishes of the people and must guard it,” he said.
The MP said that the county will lag behind in terms of development if there is disunity. He added that time has come for leaders to shelve their differences and work towards development.
Ngunjiri said that leaders must devote their time to address the many challenges facing the people instead of warring.
The legislator asked Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to provide direction and counsel among elected leaders saying the governor is the head of the county and must be ready to unite all leaders.
At the same time, the MP wants the county government to involve the youth in development. He observed that many young people are idling hence the need for the county to engage them.
Ngunjiri said that unemployment remains a big challenge that needs to be addressed.
He observed that many of the youths are opting to join criminal groups in order to earn a livelihood.
Ngunjiri advised the county and the national government to partner with the private sector so as to effectively address unemployment.
