Bahati sub-county business community has appealed to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to address the licence fees and consider their revision downwards.
At a meeting held Wednesday between the traders and the governor during the 2-day county outreach programme in the area, the traders said the charges are high and affecting the business performance.
“I would like to thank the governor for his tour in the region, a sign that he is ready to address the challenges we are facing. I would also like to request for revision of the fees to boost our businesses,” Simon Muhia, a trader, said.
“I have been running my agricultural supplies business for more than seven years. However, licence fee has gone up over the period thus affecting performance. Revision of these rates downwards will ensure that we stay in business and also promote creation of new ones”, James Mwangi, another trader said.
On his part, Mbugua promised to look into the matter as he is interested in addressing challenges facing the people.
“I have heard your plight and my government is determined to boost business in the region. We shall be revising the rates in July this year to favorable ones. This is part of my county government's efforts in coming up with sustainable measures for all businesses to thrive,” he said.
