A group of Bahati youths and women on Wednesday carried out a cleaning exercise in the area in a bid to avert health crisis.
Speaking during the cleaning exercise the youth said that they have a role to play in maintaining area cleanliness.
“We can not watch till a catastrophe has set in so that an action can be taken,” said George Mathenge a Bahati youth.
Mathenge criticised Nakuru County Government for failing to put in adequate measures to prevent floods.
The youth urged the county government to address the problem of sewerage that has hit Bahati Trading Centre.
The youth and women claimed that for long cleaning has been neglected in that area.
“We have been gabbling with floods; season after season and we are calling on the county government to intervene and help us out,” said Jane Muthoni ,
Muthoni said that they will continue supporting the county government on cleaning the environment to ensure that they lives are safe.
“We will visit all estates in Bahati Trading Center to make sure we sensitise residents on the need to have a clean environment,” added Muthoni.
The youths urged residents to have waste bins to store waste before they are collected .
However the youth denied reports that they were soliciting for small fees from residents while conducting the exercise.
