Speaking on Monday at Mutukanio Shopping Center, during the launching of Mutukanio Youth Garage, Wanyororo B chief, Bethwell Maina, said youth have potential to contribute to the growth of a nation.

“Youths are part and parcel of a nation and it is their responsibility to be involved in nation building activities,” said Maina.

The group is currently specializing in motoring services and has over 20 youths who have pooled their savings to start the garage.

Maina urged Makutanio Youth Garage to apply for Uwezo Fund to expand their business.

“There is need for the group to apply for government-funded loan to create more job opportunities,” said Maina.

“The government has set up Uwezo Fund to help youths. I urge the group to apply the loan to expand their business,” said  Maina.

The administrator acknowledged youth for involving themselves in income-generating activities since this has helped in reducing crime in the area.

Joseph Karanja the Chairman of the group urged jobless youth to form groups and start income-generating projects.

“Grouping among youth is the only way to address challenges affecting youth,” said Karanja.

Karanja called the government to do more to address the challenges affecting youth.
