Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has accused Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason Kingi of using the problems facing the Coast region to gain political mileage. Speaking after a visit to Mama Ngina Girls High School in Mombasa on Tuesday, Balala said the push for secession is a clear indicator that the leaders do not care about the unity of the nation. The CS said it is a shame that the two governors, who have been at the forefront of criticising the Jubilee government, think that the Coast region belongs to them.He argued that all the residents from different tribes, religions and other sub-groups who live at the Coast have contributed towards the development of the region in different ways, adding that their rights must be respected.Balala, who is the Jubilee point man at the Coast, said the debate to secede is a very sensitive matter and should be handled with the care it deserves.“We are not going to be taken for granted. This region does not belong to two people. This region belongs to all of us. The beauty of Coast [region] is a melting pot of all tribes, religions and all colour,” said Balala, as quoted by the Nation.
