Balala now says he’s okay with serving the country as a Cabinet minister.

Several Jubilee leaders from Mombasa County have been rooting for the CS as the most probable candidate to contest against the incumbent Governor Hassan Joho.

However, Joho’s Cord candidature isn’t automatic as Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti have also declared their interest for the coalition's ticket.

But Balala on Monday dispelled the rumours that have been doing rounds in the region that he is eyeing the county governorship.

"I am serving the nation as the Cabinet Secretary. I'm contented with the current service I'm offering my country thus will not be offering myself for the governor post,” Balala told Standard.

He pledged to support Jubilee in the 2017 elections but won’t vie for any elective post.
