He was flanked by Trade Mark East Africa Director General David Stanton, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Catherine Mturi, and Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Balala thanked KPA and the Trade Mark East Africa for contributing a total of Sh350 million towards the terminal, saying the ultra modern cruise terminal will give visitors the opportunity for relaxation.

He asked the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) to establish a special unit for marketing of cruise tourism at Mombasa.

KPA MD said the development of terminal at the Mombasa Port would contribute to the growth of business in East Africa.

The terminal will consist of all the necessary required amenities to service cruise ships and tourists docking at the port.

This is expected to help boost the tourism sector apart from complementing the growth of business in Mombasa County and the Coast region at large.

The development is funded by Trade Mark East Africa and the Kenya Ports Authority
