Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, has suspended the construction of Adventure Sports Park by Idyllic Mistley House in Hells Gate National Park in Naivasha, Nakuru county.
Balala has further directed Kenya Wildlife Service to interdict three of its senior officers involved in the day-to-day management of the park, pending investigations.
Henceforth, Idyllic Mistley House has been directed to suspend all the activities related to the project and directed to vacate the site with immediate effect.
Kenya Wildlife Service Board of Trustees granted a provisional letter of commitment for the project subject to the following conditions:
That;
1. The project to occupy approximately 5 acres of land at an old staff camp site;
2. Structures to be eco-friendly and easily dismantled and carted away;
3. The Proponent to carry out a feasibility study;
4. The project activities to have environmental mitigation plans;
5. All building plans to be approved by Kenya Wildlife Service;
6. The Project to be subjected to an Environmental Impact Assessment within the provision of EMCA 2012.
In a communication, Tourism and Wildlife Ministry said Idyllic Mistley House irregularly started the project construction without meeting the mentioned conditions.
The suspension followed Balala's site visit to Hells Gate National Park accompanied by a team of senior Kenya Wildlife Service, on Friday.
