Balala says that Joho and Kingi will not succeed in seceding the coast region.

Speaking to journalists in Mombasa Town on Friday, the CS noted that secession calls must be condemned and those propagating for it investigated.

The Tourism CS said that claims by Governor Joho and Kingi that coast has been neglected by the current and previous regime are not true.

Balala observed that Jubilee government has pushed for key development reforms at the Coast and other parts of the country.

“We must reject and condemn people calling for secession because it is not the path to take as a county and a region,” he said on Friday.

The former Mvita MP accused Joho and Kingi of seeking to fulfil their political egos in the name of secession.

Balala urged Coast residents to remain untied and shun politicians advocating for secession.

On Friday, Joho and Kingi allegedly met a section of Coast leaders and agreed to initiate a consultative process that will see Coast region split from the rest of the country.

The two governor’s claimed that seceding will end social, political and economic injustices the region has suffered since independence.
