Tourism Cabinet Secretary Mr Najib Balala has issued a warning to managers of a leading beach hotel in Mombasa following reports that the hotel has an influx of bedbugs.
Balala said guests who had booked rooms at Mombasa Beach Hotel to attend a media conference at the Coastal town complained that they could not sleep due to bedbugs that kept on attacking them at night.
The guests are reported to have aired their grievances during the media conference that was attended by the cabinet secretary, demanding a refund.
Balala threatened to sack all the senior employees in the hotel, over what he termed as utter negligence and substandard services.
“My principal secretary will call an urgent meeting with the hotel's board of management. If the poor services are as a result of mismanagement, I will fire all the senior managers in the unit,” said Balala.
Responding to the allegations, the hotel's manager, Mr Timothy Mbogho, vowed to deal with the bedbug menace once and for all.
Mombasa Beach Hotel is one of the government hotels in the Coastal Town of Mombasa.
