Balala said the exercise will boost the tourism sector in the region, considering the role the county plays in the economy.

The CS pointed out that various parts of the city are filled with all sorts of dirt, saying that is not a good image for a city like Mombasa.

He also noted that the space that allows free movement of domestic and foreign tourists traveling to this region is slowly reducing as matatus and tuktuks take up on the same.

“Create a permanent solution in cleaning up our city. It’s high time you made the necessary changes in handling these big heaps of rubbish that are all over Mombasa, this creates such a bad picture to our tourists,” said Balala, as quoted by MediaMax.

Balala further asked Joho to find ways of expanding roads in the CBD as well as remove tuktuks from the city to create space in order to ease the flow of traffic to and fro the area.
