 Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has called on Kenyans to embrace touring different places of the country so as to boost the sector.According to the Daily Nation, the Cabinet Secretary spoke on Saturday on the sidelines of the Governors’ induction Summit at the Diani Reef hotel where he said that tourism will drive the economy to greater heights.“That is the more reason we need to we need to work more and make it more attractive and more sustainable,” Balala said as quoted by the Daily Nation.During the Summit, Narok Governor Samuel Ole Tunai was elected to head the Tourism and Wildlife committee.In addition hoteliers in Mombasa and other Coastal towns have recorded an increase in the number of local visitors with Sarova Whitesands Hotel General manager, Siddharth Sathe saying that their hotels are now 90% full.“Domestic tourism has uplifted the guest numbers. Our hotel has 90 percent occupancy, mainly by local holidaymakers,” Sathe said as quoted by the Daily Nation.Diani Reef Hotel in Kwale County that has been hosting The Governors’ Summit was packed to the brim according to the Hotel’s Managing Director Bobby Kamani.
