Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Najib Balala has hit out at NASA top leaders for organising a parallel rally during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Friday, Balala claimed that NASA’s Tuesday rally at Uhuru Park is a ploy to disrupt Uhuru’s ceremony, adding that the event has a hidden political agenda. The CS said the Raila Odinga- led opposition will not succeed in preventing Uhuru from being sworn in.“Uhuru’s swearing-in on will go on whether NASA like it or not and they must live with the fact that Uhuru is the president,” said Balala. The former Mvita MP asked Kenyans to turn up in large numbers for Uhuru’s swearing-in ceremony at the Kasarani stadium.Balala asked NASA to accept Uhuru is the duly elected president and allow the country to move forward, adding that the opposition’s sideshows will not reverse reality. The government has assured Kenyans of their security during the swearing-in ceremony.NASA politicians have maintained that they do not recognise Uhuru’s presidency and will continue their push for electoral reforms.
