Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden is the latest politician from North Eastern region to second the allegations disclosed by the Cord principal Raila Odinga on Monday regarding the secret Jubilee Northern Corridor project.
Aden has said the project poses serious environmental concerns, which may wipe out the population of the many Kenyans living along the Tana River delta including the residents of Garissa County who solely depend on the river for their livelihoods.
"As revealed by Raila Odinga, the Jubilee project targets to cut-off the major tributaries of the great Tana River, thus diverting its waters to Ndakaini Dam to be used in Nairobi and other surrounding towns. This will eventually lead to the drying up of Tana River," reiterated the MP.
He added that that the project was secretly being implemented with no engagement or public consultations with the public from the affected regions.
The Garissa politician said the project was not only unconstitutional, but also a show of open insincerity from a government that is expected to always act in good faith and with due respect to the general public.
He thus called on his Balambala constituents to condemn the project so as to conserve their environment for the future generations to come.
