Aden says that time has come for the Jubilee government to be confronted for allegedly failing to fight corruption.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Sunday Live, the MP said that corruption threatens to tear up the country’s economy.

“Kenyans and stakeholders should get worried over the rising corruption and demand for the government accountability,” he said during the interview.

The Balambala lawmaker stated that the alleged Sh5 billion scam at Afya House is a clear indication that some government officers are swindling taxpayer’s money.

He claimed that Uhuru’s government is unable to fight corruption cartels, who he said will plug the country into poverty.

The MP hit out at the Uhuru-led government, accusing it of borrowing funds from foreigners and failing to tame looters.

He said that the alleged loss at the Health Ministry shows that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government is thriving on corruption.

Aden urged government agencies mandated to fight corruption to move with haste and launch investigations and prosecution in relation to the Afya House scam.

“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) must immediately launch investigations into the scam at the Health Ministry and ensure that lost public funds are recovered,” he said.

Early this, week a leaked audit report at the Ministry of Health exposed massive theft of taxpayers’ money.

It is alleged that close to Sh5 billion has been lost at the ministry in a similar manner to the theft of millions at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The allegations of theft at the ministry has brought to the fore the ineffectiveness of the Jubilee government to tame graft, with opposition leaders accusing the Uhuru government of lacking commitment to tame the vice.

Two weeks ago during a governance and accountability summit at State House in Nairobi; President Kenyatta scolded the EACC, the DPP and the Judiciary accusing the agencies of letting his government down in fighting corruption.
