According to the MP, the country’s economy is at its worst level.

The lawmaker notes that most Kenyans can hardly afford a meal a day following sky-rocketing of prices for basic commodities.

In an interview with the Standard on Thursday, the MP said that majority of Kenyans are struggling to survive as a result of high prices for basic food stuff.

He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government has been unable to cushion Kenyans from unfavorable economic conditions.

“Jubilee promised to grow the economy and cushion Kenyans from hardships but the same has not happened, instead Kenyans are struggling to put on the table,” he said.

The lawmaker accused Jubilee government of focusing on non-priority areas instead of pushing for policies that will better the economy.

Aden warned that it will be disastrous if Uhuru’s government is re-elected in the August polls, and asked Kenyans to be wary of Uhuru’s administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on promises.

During the Tononoka rally on Sunday, ODM leader Raila Odinga also slammed Jubilee administration over harsh economic conditions, saying that Jubilee is watching as Kenyans sleep on empty stomachs.

He said that prices for basic commodities like maize floor, rice and milk have skyrocketed as Jubilee watches.

Prices of basic commodities have shot up in the last three months, with a  2 kilogram packet of maize floor now going for Sh140 up from Sh110 in December last year, while a packet of milk now retails at Sh60 up from Sh40 in December last year.

Economists warn that the situation could worsen as a result of the prolonged drought and famine facing most parts of the country.
