On Tuesday, while speaking at Nyakoe market the growers said they are incurring losses because the processing plant has not been set up.
“Governor Ongwae has promised several times that plans are underway to set up the plant. We have waited for long and the county should be held accountable for the losses we have incurred,” said Elijah Morang’a.
Another farmer Stella Ondigo asked the county government to move with speed and set up the plant to help the farmers earn from their farming.
“Ongwae promised that Sh182 million will be donated from the European Union to help in setting up the plant. The county should allocate some funds to start constructing the plant and once they receive the donation they will top up,” Ms Ondigo said.
