As the 2018 Kenyan Premier League season kicks off this weekend, Bandari Football Club is confident of positive performance.
Team Technical Director Twahir Muhiddin said he was happy with the team’s pre-season preparations and insisted they were ready for new season.
Bandari returned to their Mombasa base on Monday after participating in a pre-season tournament at Utalii College where they recorded 'great' performance, according to Muhiddin.
The side drew 1-1 with Talanta Academy, defeated Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 1-0 and Kariobangi Sharks 3-2, before drawing 1-1 with Kibera Stars.
The dockers, who face Sofapaka in their first league game on Sunday, lost 2-1 to Mathare United in their last friendly match.
"We fielded a youthful side at the pre-season tournament and we are convinced that we are ready for the Premier League,” Muhiddin told Standard Sports on Tuesday.
The former Harambee Stars coach added that his new recruits have fit well in the team and much is expected of them.
Bandari has acquired the services of a Rwanda’s national youth goalkeeper Abubakar Bashunga and former Gor Mahia and Kakameka Homeboyz striker Wycliffe Ochomo.
The Coast-based club has also elevated five junior players from Bandari Youth to the senior side.
The team leaves Mombasa on Friday for the league opener at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.
