A National Youth Service (NYS) truck was attacked by suspected bandits on its way to Yattya, Baringo County.

The lorry was transporting relief food to displaced residents of Randonin area, before it was attacked as bandits spread bullets, targeting the driver.

Armed with rifles, they then offloaded the relief food.

The foodstuff was to be distributed to starving residents by the Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, following drought and famine that has hit the region.

No one was hurt during the Thursday morning incident as the NYS personnel were forced to turn back.

They reported the incident at the Marrigat Deputy County commissioner's office.

This incident comes few days after armed gunmen killed Loyamorok ward MCA Fredrick Cheretei and an aspiring Member of Parliament for Tiaty Constituency, Samuel Pepee Kitamba at a night club, in Marigat town.

Kiunjuri has since condemned the incident.
