Allan Njenga and Joel Kairu sustained serious injuries on their hands and legs after they were attacked by bandits.

Speaking to the press while at Nakuru Provincial Hospital, Njenga said that the attackers were more than 40.

"The raiders arrived at around 10pm and started destroying houses. They shot me together with my friend Kairu with arrows as the other IDPs started running away for safety. The raiders were more than 40 and they destroyed all the houses including the newly constructed ones," Njenga narrated.

The attack led to more than 300 IDPs demonstrating at Kwa Hajj Farm. Wei location chief was forced to run away after the angry demonstrators threatened to beat him accusing him of failing to act on the information that he had earlier been given.

According to John Wairuri, the chief had been given information concerning the attacks.

"We had earlier volunteered some information concerning threats and pending attacks on several occasions to the chief but it seems that he took such information for granted," Wairuri said.

He said that this was the third time that their camp has been attacked by bandits.
