Suspected Pokot bandits on Friday shot dead a female patient at Lokori in Turkana East sub-county.

According to Turkana county police commander George Tonui, the incident occurred  at 7 pm.

“Bandits sprayed the vehicle that was carrying the lady patient and killed her on the spot, but the driver and other occupants escaped unhurt,” said Tonui.

He said that the vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Health was travelling from Lokori to Kapedo when the bandits attacked it.

The patient is said to have been hit by a bullet in the head and died instantly.
