It was the third time Kimaiyo's home was raided by heavily armed bandits in the recent past.

The former IG expressed concern over the attacks, saying he was living like an IDP.

"Three weeks ago, they ambushed my herdsman and went away with five goats including those of other farmers. On the night of December 25th, they cut the barbed wire and wire mesh in my home and took ten goats. It is sad that a former IG is living like an IDP in his home," Kimaiyo said.

He said the raiders were taking advantage of Pokot- Marakwet inter clan conflicts to commit crime.

It took the intervention of police officers to push back the bandits, who raided Mokoro location in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
