A pub attendant at Mariakani business centre in Teachers estate, Nakuru town was on Thursday evening arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen mobile phone.
Officer in charge of Teachers police post Mercy Musyoka while confirming the incident said that the suspect identified as Robert Okwiri had allegedly bought the mobile phone worth Sh30,000 from one of his patrons at a throwaway price of Sh2000 a week ago.
She said the phone was traced by police officers from Nairobi through tracking intelligence after the owner reported it missing and sort help from police.
“He is helping us with more investigations into the incident. We wonder how a phone that was stolen in Nairobi can be located in Nakuru. It seems there is a syndicate operating between here and Nairobi and police want to track it down,” said Musyoka.
Meanwhile in the same area, a 26-year- old man who vandalized his parents’ house and stole metal windows and doors that he sold at a scrap metal outlet is being held in police custody as police carry out more investigations into the incident.
Police officer in charge of Teachers police post Mercy Musyoka told this writer that Jackson Walioba’s parents, who reside at the family’s other residence in Subukia reported the matter to police on Monday after receiving reports from neighbours before the suspect was arrested Thursday evening.
