Kiharu MP Irungu Kang'ata has called on bar operators to consider closing down their premises on the eve of Tuesday's general polls.
The Jubilee Party Murang'a Senator nominee has noted that the move will prevent politicians from buying youth alcohol.
"Politicians have in the past intoxicated youths perceived to be supporters of their rivals before elections."
He warned there will be serious consequences if some young people do not vote in the coming polls.
The lawmaker added that closing the bars will reduce chances of politicians buying youths alcohol so they don't cast their votes.
He also asked security agencies to be on the lookout for such activities and arrest culprits.
He spoke on Tuesday in Ndaka-ini, Gatanga, during the finals of a tournament he had organised in Kariara ward.
