Police in charge of Teachers police post Mercy Musyoka said that the suspect was identified as Alex Wanjohi, who was arrested after a bar owner at Makao Estate lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he steals and keeps beer and wine glasses in his house.
“The bar owner recorded a statement with us alleging that he had iproof that the suspect steals utensils from his bar among other entertainment spots and keeps them in his house. When we raided the suspect’s house this morning, we found him in possession of twenty keg beer glasses and thirty wine glasses. Some of them belonged to the complainant,” said the police officer.
Musyoka added that the suspect is believed to have been collecting the utensils for a couple of years by secretly removing them from the entertainment spots during late night drinking sprees.
“Although he confessed that he used to collect the untidily for prestige, it is still a criminal offense. We are still carrying out investigations before taking him to court,” said Musyoka, adding that police had asked other local entertainment spots owners to come and identify the exhibits.
