Tusker Fc stand in tactician Francis Baraza has been named the October, SJAK/Fidelity Insurance coach of the month in an event held at the Ruaraka Stadium on Tuesday.
The former Kenyan international who is standing in for the out of favour George Nsimbe bagged the award after leading the Brewers to an impressive run in the month of October that saw them manage three wins out of four matches with the other one ending in a draw.
Tusker were held to a barren draw by surprise package Kariobangi Sharks before seeing off Muhoroni Youth,Nakumatt and Posta Rangers in succession to reap ten points that also saw them jump to fourth on the KPL log.
The results impressed the Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) panel who consequently awarded the interim manager with a customised trophy and Ksh 75,000 courtesy of Fidelity Insurance who are the sponsors of the awards.
Baraza joins the ranks of former Gor Mahia tactician Jose Marcelo Ferreira,Posta Ranger's Sammy Omollo,George Nsimbe, former Western Stima coach Henry Omino,Sam Ssimbwa (Sofapaka) and Dylan Kerr (Gor Mahia)/who bagged the awards in March,April,May,June/July,August and September.
His situation however still remains unclear since the former KPL champions continue to remain non committal on Nsimbe who was suspended over remarks he made about his players.
Should he be promoted then,Baraza will be the second assistant coach to take over the reigns after Bandari's Ken Odhiambo who was elevated to the position following the dismissal of Ugandan Paul Nkatah a last week.
