Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has promised to campaign for Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid after next year's general election.
Speaking in Kabarnet town, Baringo County during a fundraiser graced by Ruto, Cheboi promised to personally support Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
He called on all leaders in Baringo to support the deputy president when the time comes.
“I will personally campaign for the deputy president after the 2017 general election and ensure he ascends to power,” said Cheboi on Sunday.
Ruto has been facing a rift in the former Rift Valley province especially from the former ruling arty, Kanu.
He assured the DP that Baringo County is a Jubilee stronghold.
“Baringo County is 100% Jubilee and there is no dispute about that,” the governor said.
He called on leaders who are affiliated to Kanu to decamp to Jubilee saying it is better to be in Jubilee rather than being in the Opposition.
Ruto had toured the region for the second time in a span of one week in what is believed to be an effort to address the growing rift in former expansive province.
Baringo County is one of Jubilee's strongholds.
