[Photo|Parliament of Kenya]The Joint Select Committee on election-related laws commenced public hearings in regards to the two Bills that are currently before the two Houses, Senate and National Assembly.The committee co-chaired by Baringo North MP, William Cheptumo and Isiolo Senator, Fatuma Dullo has conducted the hearings in accordance with Article 118, that provides for public participation in the legislative process.The hearings, which run through Thursday October 5, from October 3, will see the committee receive submissions from the civil society, religious groups, political parties, NGOs, the Law Society of Kenya and IEBC, among other relevant stakeholders. The committee is expected to table its report in both Houses when Parliament resumes next week.
