This is after members of the minority Ilchamus community who come from Baringo county threatened to ditch the Raila Odinga led party saying it has side-lined them in nominations slots despite supporting it for more than a decade.Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county on Thursday, group’s spokesman Amos ole Mpaka said the community feels its political allegiance has been taken for granted by ODM. “Despite residents in other parts of Rift Valley ditching ODM for the Jubilee Party a long time ago, our community has continued to support the ideals of the Orange party. We feel our political allegiance has been taken for granted,” Mpaka is quoted by Nation. Mpaka further noted that he was locked out of the East Africa Legislative (EALA) nominations, a slot he notes could have given his community hope of political representation.“My nomination to Eala, for which I applied, would have given my community hope of political representation,” the spokesman said. “The move by ODM has exposed my community to systematic marginalisation, both at the county and national levels,” he added.Mpaka unsuccessfully vied for the Baringo South parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket.
