Former US President Barack Obama's half brother, Malik Obama, has reacted to Kenya's government move to shut down TV stations that were airing the swearing-in of Opposition leader Raila Odinga as 'people's president' on Tuesday.
The government's move came days after President Uhuru Kenyatta summoned editors at State House and allegedly warned the against airing the inauguration live.
He cautioned that if they did so, their media houses will be shut down and their licences revoked.Taking to his twitter page, Malik noted that closing TV stations due to political reasons proved that Africa was a 'shithole'.
"Africa: Complete "Shithole". Shutting down all TV for political reasons - Kenya," said Obama, Tuesday.
Stations that were affected by the closure included Royal media's Citizen TV and Inooro TV, NTV and KTN.
