Bars operating near educational institutions in Gatundu North Sub County have been given a notice to close down their premises by area district commissioner. Speaking to the press from his office on Friday, Daniel Nyamiti warned club owners located near schools that those found still operating after May will have their licenses revoked and sued in courts of law. “Bars near primary and secondary schools should be closed by the end of next month. The owners are cautioned to note that by the end of May, their licenses will be revoked and if they persist, we will sue them in law courts," said Nyamiti. The leader pointed out that the noise emitting from bars destruct students from studying and further influence students to take alcohol. He revealed that concerted effort by his office and that of the area police will put an end to illegal brews which compromise the quality of education. “Young individuals have dropped out of schools to indulge in alcohol and other immoralities in this area. I can’t allow this menace to go on. I will use every resource in my capacity to halt illegal brews in this area as well as improve the quality of education for our youth," he said.
