Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has warned bars, supermarkets and restaurants selling alcohol to minors.

He said this was against the law and that those found will be closed down and their licenses confiscated.

"I have received information from the public that some bars, restaurants and supermarkets are selling alcohol to persons under the age of 18, anyone who will be found will face the wrath of the law," he said in Eldoret town, Sunday.

"I will not allow our children's future to be threatened under my watch. I will deal with such businessmen ruthlessly," he added. 

He challenged parents to ensure they take good care of their students especially during the  fourth coming long holidays.

"I challenge parents to ensure their children spend time with the right friends to prevent them from engaging in drinking," notes Hassan.

He assured Uasin Gishu County residents of their security before, during and after elections saying that everything is in order therefore no cause of alarm. 

"I want to assure residents that their security is guaranteed and should not travel to up country in fear of violence," he added.
