Campaign billboards of Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant, Anne Waiguru, have been vandalised.

The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary seeks to clinch the seat through a Jubilee Party ticket. Waiguru seeks to unseat incumbent Joseph Ndathi, who is also in Jubilee.

However Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua is also optimistic of clinching the seat.

Her supporters accused her political rivals of hiring goons to vandalise the property at Kagio and Makutano areas.

Led by her running mate, Peter Ndambiri, they said waiguru's supporters had sensed defeat, hence their decision to vandalise the two billboards, with intentions to demotivate her.

Speaking Friday after the Thursday night incident, Ndambiri indicated his partner was strong politically and nobody would successfully intimidate her.

"Waiguru is politically stronger and no amount of intimidation will bring her down. We are going to take over Kirinyaga for a better change, come August,'' he said.

He further asked the police to investigate the matter and bring culprits to book.
