The battle for the Msambweni parliamentary seat has taken a different twist after ODM aspirant Omar Boga insisted that he will not shelf his bid to pave way for incumbent Suleiman Dori.
Speaking at the St Joseph Hall, Boga said he will be on the ballot box despite ODM leader Raila Odinga urging them to agree on who will represent the party.
Boga’s side has been advocating for the Mlolongo system while Dori’s team wants the party to use secret ballot during nominations.
Boga said the decision to join the parliamentary race was not his but the people’s.
He also said that he is better placed to deliver victory for the party come August, adding that ODM will be in for a rude shock if they allow Dori to fly the party’s flag.
“I did not decide to run for this seat on my own. It is the people who asked me to run. I could not have agreed to a consensus. If Dori gets the ODM nomination ticket, the party will lose the seat,” he said, as quoted for the Star.
He, however, said that he will back Dori if he loses during the party primaries.
“If he loses to me, I expect the same from him,” he said.
