A major political battle is looming in Kisauni constituency as two bigwigs face off in the August polls.
Incumbent MP Rashid Bedzimba, a close ally of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will battle out with businessman Ali Mbogo who is vying on a Wiper Party ticket.Ali Mbogo who is a close ally of ODM and NASA leader Raila Odinga was cleared by the IEBC on Friday to face his political nemesis who was given the green light a day earlier. The battle between the two is expected to be a show of political might with both of them having deep pockets to bankroll their political ambitions.Bedzimba is banking on his track record as the area MP to win a second term. However, for Mbogo, his financial clout may work for him in his quest to make the incumbent a one-time MP.With both rivals coming from the Mijikenda community, the largest voting bloc in the constituency, whoever sways the Kamba votes to his side will carry the day. With Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka enjoying a significant following in the county, Mbogo stands a chance to bag the Kamba votes that may guarantee him a win.The battle for numbers has just begun and whatever happens, the race for the Kisauni MP seat is a close contest to call.
