Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen faces a tough hurdle in his political career, as he seeks re-election in the August 8 polls.

This is after former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo, officially unveiled his senatorial bid, as he seeks to send the Senate Deputy Majority Leader, home.

A delegation of Kanu leaders led by chairmn Baringo senator Gideon Moi welcomed Kimaiyo to the party, saying he was capable of 'teaching' Murkomen a 'lesson'.

Moi assured Kimaiyo of the party's support, adding that it was still popular not only in Rift Valley region, but across the Country.

"I am the people of Elgeyo Marakwet's choice. I am going to deliver what the current senator has never delivered to you, since you elected him. I'm running on a Kanu ticket, since I believe it is the party that has people's interests at hand,'' said Kimaiyo.

He further called for peaceful integration in the region, and asked the national government to intervene and end frequently witnessed banditry attacks.
