Thika youths have been encouraged to be ambassadors of peace and shun leaders who advocate for violence.
Addressing youths at Thika town early today, area legislator Alice Ng’ang’a asked youths to be wary of people who want to sue them to cause violence.
The MP alleged that some leaders are keen to use the youths in violence and crime to achieve their own interests.
“You young people should be wary of individuals who are keen to ruin your lives,” she said.
The MP further alleged that some prominent people are using young people to sell drugs and engage in other unlawful acts like prostitution.
She asked the youth to instead use their talents to promote development in the society.
The MP stated that the national government has set in place various measures including the provision of development funds to empower young people.
The lawmaker however said that there is need for more support to completely address unemployment.
Ng’ang’a called on leaders who have the interests of the youths at heart to chip in and help address lack of jobs.
The MP at the same time called for establishment of more rehabilitation centers to help drug addicts.
